Cape Town, South Africa – July 10, 2024 – Great Wall Motors (GWM) of China proudly announces the consolidation of its esteemed automotive brands – HAVAL, P-Series, ORA, and TANK – under a new unified social media presence. This strategic move aims to enhance GWM’s brand visibility, streamline communication, and foster a stronger community among GWM enthusiasts and customers worldwide.
Effective on August 1st, HAVAL fans and their P-Series bakkie, ORA and TANK counterparts can engage with all four brands through a single, centralised social media account managed by GWM. This initiative underscores GWM's commitment to innovation, customer-centricity, and leveraging digital platforms to deliver compelling automotive experiences for customers. This innovative merger is taking place during an exciting time where the company is also introducing the all-new GWM HAVAL Jolion Pro and Jolion Pro HEV, with its class-leading turbo powerplant, delivering a whopping 140kW of power and 375Nm of torque. The new Jolion Pro sets itself apart on a visual level with a much sportier look compared to other competing models in the SUV segment. This is the first new Haval model to launch under the carmaker’s new ‘One GWM’ philosophy.
This unification does not come as a surprise following Nampo in May. GWM, HAVAL, TANK, P-Series, and ORA travelled to the NAMPO Farmers’ Extravaganza under the ‘One GWM’ umbrella. NAMPO stands as one of the largest agricultural shows globally, drawing 50,000 farmers - not only from across South Africa - but also from far-reaching corners of the world. This marked an exciting opportunity for GWM to actively present their new ‘One GWM’ philosophy to attendees being lucky enough to have first sight of the new GWM P500 bakkie, the TANK 500 & the Jolion Pro SUV. “NAMPO is among the biggest and greatest expos in South Africa, so it is also a crucial show for GWM,” South Africa Chief Operations Officer, Conrad Groenewald explains. “NAMPO is also our first public showcasing of all our brands united as One GWM”.
Being the earliest entrant among the Chinese Automakers into South Africa, 1,500 vehicles of Great Wall vehicles reached the port of Durban, South Africa on February 25 2007, marking the start of Great Wall Motor's expansion into the South African market. GWM has been in South Africa for well over seventeen years now and during this time has established itself as a leading challenger in the automotive market. Looking back to one of the first customer favourites, the Steed Pick-up, proved to be a popular option for buyers at the time. The brand has since grown over the years with many of the company’s sub-brands being a leading choice to South Africans. It is not just GWM’s striving for excellence and its expertise that make their vehicles leaders in each segment in which they compete, but the brand also takes into account affordability aspects for South Africans. The new GWM P500 bakkie is among the top four in Cars.co.za’s “Cheapest Single Cab Bakkies in South Africa”. The quality, as well as its affordability is what keeps GWM a top performing competitor in the global automotive industry and a sought-after choice amongst many South Africans.
GWM’s social coalition serves as a call-to-action for the brands desires of a united front. Merging HAVAL, P-SERIES, ORA, and TANK social media sites is a way of consolidating GWM’s innovations, also acting as a space where enthusiasts of the separate brands can assemble and engage with multiple GWM updates, further supporting the conglomerate. All these new changes made by GWM, along with exciting launches such as the GWM P500 bakkie, the TANK 500 & new Jolion Pro SUV, seeks to broaden engagement and popularity with the brand and further cement its position in the South African Automotive market.
